The infographics below diagramatically explain the core difference between a Binary Network Structure and a Unilevel Network Structure.

Binary Network Infographic

In a Binary Network Structure only 2 users can be placed under a particular user. As shown above, User 1 can only have User 2 and User 3 under him. User 2 and all users below him is called the Lef Leg of User 1. User 3 and all users below him is called the Right Leg of User 1. User 2 and User 3 are placed on Level 1 of User 1. As soon as User 1 refers User 4 on his left side the system would automatically place him under User 2. This is called Spillover as both the positions under User 1 are occupied. User 4, User 5, User, 6, User 7 are placed on the Level 2 of User 1. User 4 and User 5 are Level 1 users for User 2 while User 6 and User 7 and Level 1 users for User 3. So for User 1 the number of members at various levels would look like:

Level 1 – 2
Level 2 – 4
Level 3 – 8
Level 4 – 16
as so on in multiples of 2.

All the users under User 1 are called the Downline of User 1. Users who are above User 1 in the network are called the Upline of User 1. In any form of network the commissions are earned only from the downline.

In a Binary Network Structure the Width of the Network is fixed at 2 while the Depth is unlimited.

Unilevel Network Infographic

In a Unilevel Network Structure there is no limit to the number of users that can be placed under a particular user. So there can be 0 users under a particular user or even 1000+ users under a particular user. As shown above, User 1 has User 2, User 3, User 4, User 5, User 6 under him on his Level 1. Any further referrals by User 1 will also be placed on his Level 1. Hence there is no spillover in a Unilevel Network.  Similarly there is no left leg or right leg as there is no limit to the number of users under a particular user.

All the users under User 1 are called the Downline of User 1. User 2-6 are Level 1 for User 1, Users 7-10 (and all further users on that level) are Level 2 for User 1. Users 11-13 (and all further users on that level) are Level 3 for User 1. Users who are above User 1 in the network are called the Upline of User 1. Commissions, as usual, are payable only for the members in the downline.

In a Unilevel Network Structure the Width of the Network is unlimited while the Depth is limited (usually varies from 1 – 10 levels).
